The Problem of Trust

One of the biggest problems we have today is who do we trust? There are so many people out there saying so many different things it makes my head hurt. I am getting so I don’t trust anyone. I rarely watch cable news. I am very careful who I choose to listen to. Until we find a solution to this, I don’t think it will matter much who gets elected. How do we get back to a place where we trust our leaders?

Now lets make it more complicated. There is very little trust in Government right now and that is just based on what we know. Or what we think we know. But because of the world we live in, there is a lot of stuff we can’t know. The Government has to have secrets so our enemies don’t know. So how do we trust our Government with secrets when we don’t trust them with what is public? How do we know our leaders are doing what is in our best interests?

This popped up as a topic today as I was browsing YouTube and came across some video’s on the Iran nuclear deal. I have seen and heard so many arguments for and against it I have no idea what to think. Is it good? Is it bad? Will it stop Iran from building a bomb? Will it make it easier? I haven’t the slightest idea. I would like to know what happened in the secret side deal that came out. Why does that have to be secret? All it does is make it harder to believe the deal is good. With the elections coming up Republicans are doing a great job of making political hay with it. I’m not picking on Republicans as this always happens with both sides. And it is getting worse. There is no willingness on either side to admit when the other side does something good. Ten years ago there was some but those days are long gone. Both sides are getting so desperate for power that there is no middle ground. Every thing the other side does is pure evil. But when we get back into power, we will do the same thing.

I think this is where some of the support for Donald Trump is coming from. The outsider. For the first few months of the primary cycle the top three in the polls were Trump, Dr. Carson and Carly Fiorina. They are/were seen as not having anything to do with the problems in Government. I think there is a level of trust there that there isn’t with the other candidates because they are seen as part of the problem. Part of the lack of trust.

At some point, we the people are going to have to demand the truth. But in order to do that, we have to be willing to accept the truth no matter what it is. Even if it means we have been wrong.
